Some workers of the Nigerian Ministry of Women Affairs were captured in a viral video celebrating the removal of their principal, Uju-Kennedy Ohanenye.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Ohanenye was among the ministers sacked by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, stating that Ohanenye would be replaced immediately by Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, a former Minister of State, Police Affairs.
Other ministers sacked by Tinubu were Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Prof Tahir Mamman SAN OON, Minister of Education; Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
In a viral video posted on X by Theo Abu, the ministry staff are seen singing and dancing over the removal of Ohanenye.
“BREAKING: Wild jubilation at the Ministry of Women Affairs as President Bola Tinubu sacks the incompetent Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister Uju Kennedy,” the X user captioned the one-minute video.
During her time as minister, the ministry was accused of diverting N1.5 billion earmarked for the execution of capital projects.
This issue generated a dramatic incident during a plenary session at the House of Representatives when the former minister clashed with Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development over corruption allegations.
