Lagos State Resident Chased Inside a Lagoon By some Lawless Police Officers Is Dead

Lagos State resident who was chased to a lagoon by some lawless operatives of the Nigerian police on Wednesday morning is now dead.

SaharaReporters earlier reported how the deceased fell inside a lagoon at the federal bus stop, Ipaja Ayobo axis of Lagos State after some policemen were chasing him. 

As explained in a video seen on X by SaharaReporters, the resident’s fall into the lagoon was compounded by a head injury sustained from hitting a stone.

The narrator said: “It was the police that chased inside till he fell inside the lagoon. We were only trying to rescue him. It was the police that chased him. They chased him this morning (on Wednesday). He hit his head on the hard stone. Money fell from his pocket and they took it.”

She wrote: “Yesterday morning, police chased my friend’s husband till he fell into the canal, they took his slippers and money that fell and left when people started shouting. This happened at federal bus stop, Ipaja Ayobo axis. He is currently unconscious at Lasuth @BenHundeyin @PoliceNG,” a X user, @Omorhemi who identified the deceased as her wife’s husband wrote. 

Giving an update on the incident, a X user, @Omorhemi confirmed his death to SaharaReporters. 

She added that the policemen had been identified and were currently being detained by their superiors at Area M police station of Lagos Command. 

She said: ”He is dead as of this afternoon; two amongst the officers have been detained at panti.” 

She continued: “Thanks to some eyewitnesses that have been able to point out two from the officers and cooperation of their dpo,they have been taken and detained at Area M where the Area commander is at  @BenHundeyin  @Princemoye1.”
