American actress Gabrielle Union has announced her departure from X (formerly Twitter), citing recent changes to the platform’s terms of service and the return of “volatile figures” as her reasons for leaving.
“There are pivotal moments in life when we must declare that enough is enough, and for me, today is that day,” Union wrote in a post on Friday.
In a statement shared on her X account, Union reflected on the platform’s original purpose, emphasizing its foundation on “authentic connections, true engagement, and creative expression, all anchored in respect for user privacy and trust.” She expressed disappointment that X no longer aligns with these values, adding, “With the recent and upcoming changes to the terms of service and the return of volatile figures, I find myself at a crossroads, facing a direction I can no longer fully support.”
Union reaffirmed her commitment to fostering positive and inclusive digital spaces, stating, “I am committed to engaging in spaces that truly value inclusivity, respect, and integrity.” She described her decision to leave X as “the last straw” but assured her followers that she remains active on other platforms.
“You can still find me @gabunion on Instagram, Threads, TikTok, BlueSky, Spill, and Facebook (Gabrielle Union),” she wrote, encouraging fans to continue connecting with her in spaces that prioritize meaningful engagement.
Union concluded her message with gratitude for her supporters, thanking them for their shared journey on the platform. “Thank you all for being such an incredible part of this journey. Let’s keep spreading love and light to one another in the ways that truly matter.”
